How Cortland handles your information.

Written in plain language, grounded in what this site actually does. If anything on this page is unclear or you want your data removed, email contact@cort.land.

Who we are

Cortland LLC is a Texas limited liability company based in Houston. We build and operate AI solutions on Anthropic’s Claude for industrial and energy companies. This policy covers cort.land and the forms, emails, and booking tools linked from it. It does not cover the separate systems you interact with during a paid engagement, which are governed by the contract you sign with us.

What we collect

We only collect information that you give us through one of these entry points:

  • The intake form at /contact. Name, work email, company, optional phone number, and whatever context you choose to share about your project.
  • The AI Readiness Assessment at /assessment. Name, company, job title, work email, and your answers to the eleven assessment questions.
  • The newsletter signup. Only your email address.
  • Booking a discovery call. Name, email, and your selected time, collected through Cal.com after you submit the intake form.
  • The client login at /login. Email address, used to send a magic-link to clients with an active engagement. We do not create accounts for the general public.
  • Automatic information. Standard request metadata (IP address, browser user-agent, referrer, pages viewed) captured by our analytics tools and by the infrastructure that serves the site.

We do not collect payment information on this site. Invoicing happens through separate tools after a contract is signed.

How we use it

  • To respond to inbound inquiries and move qualified conversations into a proposal.
  • To send the newsletter you subscribed to, and to send transactional email (assessment results, magic-link sign-in, booking confirmations).
  • To understand which pages and campaigns are working, so we can write less and ship more of what is useful.
  • To operate paid engagements once a contract is in place.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers.

Sub-processors we use

We rely on a small set of vendors to run this site and our business. Each receives only the information it needs for its job:

  • Resend — transactional email delivery (assessment results, intake notifications, magic-link sign-in).
  • Attio — customer relationship management. Leads from the intake form, the assessment, and the newsletter are recorded here.
  • Cal.com — discovery-call booking, embedded on /contact after form submission.
  • Beehiiv — newsletter subscription and delivery.
  • PostHog — product analytics and conversion attribution, both in the browser (cookies) and server-side (booking events via webhook).
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — only loaded when campaign attribution is active. It records ad-click-to-form conversions for LinkedIn campaigns we run.
  • Vercel — hosting and request logging.
  • Notion — the client workspace you sign in to at /login during an active engagement.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies for two things: keeping you signed in to your client workspace, and measuring how visitors move through the site. PostHog sets a small set of cookies in your browser to attribute sessions across pages. LinkedIn’s Insight Tag sets its own cookies when we are running a LinkedIn campaign.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in settings. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect any functionality of the site except our ability to see that you visited it.

How long we keep it

Lead and contact records live in our CRM for as long as the relationship is active. If you ask us to remove your information, we remove it from Attio and unsubscribe you from any lists. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any newsletter issue. Magic link tokens expire within minutes of being issued.

Your rights

Wherever you are, you can ask us to:

  • Show you the information we have about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete it.
  • Stop using it to contact you.

Email contact@cort.land and we will act on your request within a reasonable time. California, EU, and UK residents have additional rights under their local laws; we respect those regardless of where a request originates.

Security

Traffic to cort.land is served over HTTPS. Access to our CRM and email tooling is limited to Cortland operators and is protected by the multi-factor authentication those services provide. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store data we do not need and we do not keep it longer than we have to.

Children

This site is for enterprise customers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

When we change how we handle data, we update this page and move the “last updated” date at the top. For material changes that affect existing subscribers or clients, we will notify you by email.
